We believe that Financial Literacy is an important skill in breaking the cycle of poverty in a family.
We believe that Financial Literacy is not only about the knowledge of how to save money and make budget but most importantly is to develop a set of new attitude and behaviour towards good financial literacy skills. It requires a long process with a lot of repetition to develop new attitude and behaviour. Therefore, we need to start as early as possible in the life of the child.
A set of new attitude and behaviour we introduce to children and young people are:
- Self confidence in child and young people own capacity, talent and goal/dream chasing including in managing money and resources
- Delay gratification and prioritise need rather than wants
- Saving not only finance but including resources (water, electricity, gas, plastic)
- Budgeting
- Creativity and innovation
We believe that Teachers and Schools are very strategic in developing these new attitude and behaviours among children and young people. This is why our core program is targeting teachers and schools.
School Adoption Program.
SchoolAdoption Program is an innovative way to support a school in improving teacher capacity in delivering a curriculum in fun and joyful learning process within the agreed timeframe until a set of new attitudes and behaviour towards good financial literacy among students developed.
We adopt a school that commit to improve teacher pedagogy skills in delivering our program for at least 20 hours social and financial education class session per year.
We commit to provide special funding for Teacher Capacity Building program up to 5 years to improve teachers performance in delivering our program.
Every year school must conduct an evaluation survey and observation to measure student achievement in several aspects of social and financial literacy.
Every year school must conduct Teacher Training/Refresher Training program to ensure high quality session delivery by teachers.
School Adoption Program covers as early as Pre-school, Primary, Secondary and Senior High School. We have complete curriculum for these age group.
We will provide up until 5,000 euro per school per year for teacher training, teacher incentives, administration, monitoring and evaluation.
Student Adoption Program
Student Adoption Program is an innovative way to support students to be self reliant and have confidence with their future. Each student will receive stipend money from their sponsor parents every month which they need to spend for their education needs and at least 10% for their own saving. Each student will open their own bank account and save their money. Every year they need to report to their sponsor parent the amount of their saving, their major spending and their saving goals.
The sponsor parents can choose the stipend money based on student grade level below:
- 30 euro per month/students for primary education school
- 40 euro per month/student for junior high school school
- 50 euro per month/student for senior high school school
Student Adoption Program can only start at the schools that already received School Adoption Program.
