Medeleven Stichting believe that financial literacy is an important skill in breaking the cycle of poverty in a family…
We believe that financial literacy goes far beyond simply knowing how to save money and
create a budget. More importantly, it involves developing a new set of atudes and
behaviors toward money and resources. Culvang these new atudes and behaviors
requires a long-term process involving consistent repeon and pracce. Therefore, it is
essenal to begin as early as possible in a child’s life.
The key atudes and behaviors we aim to insll in children and young people are
- Self-confidence in their own abilies, talents, and capacity to pursue their goals and
dreams — including the ability to manage money and resources effecvely. - Delayed graficaon— learning to priorize needs over wants.
- Resourcefulness and saving — not only with money, but also with natural and
everyday resources such as water, electricity, gas, and plasc. - Budgeng skills.
- Creavity and innovaon in solving problems and creang opportunies.
We believe that teachers and schools play a strategic role in developing these atudes
and behaviors among children and young people. This is why our core program focuses on
supporng teachers and schools.
